Quick answer
Your Authorization to Test is issued after the nursing regulator makes you eligible and the examination registration requirements are met. Read the dates on your own ATT: the official NCLEX FAQ describes an average of 90 days, not a universal validity period. You must take the exam within that window, and the dates cannot be extended. Eligibility, ATT issuance and a confirmed exam appointment are different milestones.
At a glance
| Eligibility decision | Nursing regulator |
|---|---|
| ATT validity | Use the actual dates issued to you |
| Average mentioned by NCLEX | 90 days; not a personal guarantee |
| Extension | The official FAQ says dates cannot be extended |
Keep three milestones separate
Record when your regulator confirms eligibility, when the ATT arrives and when Pearson confirms your appointment. A board letter alone is not a booked seat. Check the email address used for registration, including spam folders, and retain your candidate identification number. If the ATT has not arrived, verify the board’s eligibility status rather than repeatedly creating registrations.
Work backward from the final test date
Mark the last permitted test date prominently. Allow room for travel, schedule changes and preparation within that period. Do not use a forum answer of “90 days” or “180 days” instead of your own dates. The 365-day period while an NCLEX registration waits for eligibility is a different rule; it is not an extra year after an ATT is issued.
Know which organisation can solve the problem
Ask the regulator about eligibility and missing application requirements. Ask Pearson about your exam account, scheduling or confirmation. For international appointment changes, use Candidate Services and the current rescheduling rules. If the ATT expires, follow the official re-registration instructions; no paid assistant can extend the dates simply by requesting it.
Plan your next steps
- Confirm eligibility with the regulator
- Check the Pearson registration and email
- Receive and read the ATT
- Check your name and validity dates
- Book a permitted appointment
- Retain the appointment confirmation
Common mistakes to avoid
- Confusing board eligibility with a reserved test seat
- Assuming the registration waiting period is ATT validity
- Creating duplicate registrations to chase a delayed email
The 365-day eligibility waiting period is not the ATT validity period.

Common questions
What happens after my nursing board determines I am eligible for NCLEX?
Once eligibility and exam registration requirements are met, look for the ATT. Read its details and dates, then schedule and retain the separate appointment confirmation.
What is an ATT and how do I get one in the Philippines?
The Authorization to Test permits scheduling within its stated dates after the official eligibility and registration steps. It is not a licence and is not obtained simply by joining a review programme.
How long is my NCLEX ATT valid?
Use the dates on your own ATT. The official FAQ cites a 90-day average, not a rule for every candidate, and states that ATT dates cannot be extended.
