Quick answer

Your nursing regulator provides the official result. Some U.S. licensure candidates can purchase unofficial Quick Results after two business days. Eligibility follows the licensure programme, not the location of your test centre.

Use the correct results route

Check the regulator’s instructions and Pearson account. Official NCLEX guidance describes Quick Results for eligible U.S. licensure candidates in participating jurisdictions. It is not available to Canadian registration candidates.

Quick Results costs US$7.95 when available and does not authorise nursing practice. Two business days is not a guaranteed 48-hour deadline. Weekends, public holidays or an examination hold can affect what you can see.

  • Do not use question count, exam difficulty or a payment pop-up as proof of the result.
  • Check the licence or registration status separately from the exam result.
  • Contact the responsible organisation if a documented expected timeframe has passed.

If you need another attempt

NCSBN’s retake policy provides at least 45 test-free days between attempts for participating regulators. The policy permits up to eight attempts a year, but your regulator can impose stricter conditions. Confirm its current limit, deadlines and remediation requirements.

Follow the regulator’s retake application instructions, register again as required, and receive a new ATT before scheduling. Do not assume the old ATT or a previous payment carries forward.

  • Read the Candidate Performance Report if one is provided.
  • Identify weaker Client Needs areas and recurring reasoning errors.
  • Choose the next date only after checking eligibility, the ATT and a realistic preparation schedule.

Turn feedback into a manageable plan

An unsuccessful attempt is information to work with, not a reason to rush into another date. Review your preparation method, time constraints and performance report together.

Use the study planner to make space for rationale review and NGN reasoning. A platform score can guide review, but it is not the regulator’s result or a guarantee that the next attempt will pass.
