NCLEX-RN ATT and Scheduling in the United States
Understand Authorization to Test dates, Pearson appointment confirmation, identification, changes and reasonable testing accommodations.
Quick answer
Wait for ATT before scheduling. Its dates are set by your nursing regulator and cannot be assumed to be 90 days for everyone. Use the official scheduling and ID rules, then retain the appointment confirmation.
Registration, ATT and appointment are three milestones
The Pearson registration confirmation acknowledges examination registration. The ATT authorizes scheduling within its stated window after board eligibility. The appointment confirmation identifies the booked date, time and location. Keep all three so you can identify exactly which step is missing.
If the examination registration confirmation has not arrived within two days, the NCLEX fee page directs candidates to contact Pearson Candidate Services before submitting another registration. Duplicate payments are not a useful way to accelerate eligibility.
- Check spam and the email address used in the official account.
- Use the regulator for eligibility questions and Pearson for scheduling questions.
- Read the precise validity dates before making travel arrangements.

Choose a workable date and location
Examination location does not change the state where you applied for licensure. Choose an available authorised location and ensure the booked appointment lies within ATT validity. International scheduling has a separate fee where applicable.
If you need reasonable accommodations, use your regulator’s official process early and follow the approved scheduling instructions. Do not assume ordinary online availability applies to every accommodated appointment.
- Plan arrival time, travel and accepted identification.
- Confirm the booked date and time from the appointment receipt.
- Keep accessibility needs in the official process rather than informal messages.

Changing an appointment requires the exact official rule
NCLEX scheduling guidance requires changes at least one full business day, described as 24 hours, before the scheduled appointment, with specific rules for appointments following weekends or holidays. Read its examples instead of treating the deadline as a simple calendar-day subtraction.
A change request is not complete until confirmed. Missing a deadline or failing to attend can lead to forfeited fees. ATT validity still constrains the replacement date. Do not assume cancelling an appointment extends the authorization period.
- Use Pearson’s approved route for a change.
- Retain the new appointment confirmation.
- Recheck accepted-ID requirements before travelling.
